You've had many years of training in your craft as a performer, singer, actor etc. but if you still feel haunted by the ravages of Performance Anxiety your career may be in serious jeopardy.
Performance Anxiety, that familiar nemesis to all performers is often experienced as some or all the following physical experiences: anxiety, tremor, loss of focus, poor concentration, tension, stammering, forgetfulness, fear of performing, avoidance of performing, self sabotaging behaviors prior to and during a performance, locking up of key bodily functions ( i.e. locking up of vocal and other muscle groups preventing spontaneous and heartfelt expression ), abdominal tension and distractibility to mention a few.
One of the more common ways of helping performers with this problem has been through the use of medications with all their inherent potential medical and performance side-effects.
Other performers often resort to a course of short and/or long-term psychotherapy to try to get at the root cause of their own Performance Anxiety. The effects of such measures is often temporary if at all effective. It often can be a long drawn out process.
Ideally, most performers are looking for a quick and painless method of dealing with Performance Anxiety that will have lasting effects and which will not have detrimental effects on their health, their performance or their careers. Also, apart from just doing damage control, astute performers are keenly in search of new and better methods of enhancing their performance from an emotional perspective.
In the last 10 years, Dr. Nick Arrizza, a former Psychiatrist, Stress and Performance Researcher, Professional and Executive Coach , has painstakingly researched different ways of helping performers manage negative emotions; the underlying cause of such problems as Performance Anxiety.
In his quest he has discovered and developed a powerful tool which he calls the Mind Resonance Process? transforms negative emotions into more adaptive and positive strengths, perspectives and capabilities. This process helps bring new energy, vitality and inspiration to one's performance career and has the potential to open up locked up creative resources that have been yearning for expression.
In order to begin to understand how the Mind Resonance Process? works it is important to appreciate how a problem like Performance Anxiety originates. Very briefly, Performance Anxiety rests on a deep foundation of negative emotions.
For instance, take the negative emotion " I'm afraid the audience will hate me", or "I'm afraid I'll lose control of my voice during the performance". What are the consequences of having such negative feelings in one's consciousness? Well clearly, Performance Anxiety to name one.
The Mind Resonance Process? has been designed to help the performer a) become aware of their own repertoire of unconsciously held negative emotions b) to become aware of how these emotions remain "anchored" in their consciousness and c) to quickly and easily transform these negative emotions into a more powerful and resilient mind set about oneself, the performance and the environment.
This transformation is often accompanied by a greater sense of inner peace, self confidence, self control, self assuredness, creative and emotional expression, energy, vitality, buoyancy, joy and harmony in the operation of one's physical instrument.
